Frilled vibrant deep pink flowers with a scarlet blotch in a conical truss. Flowering in early May it has ribbed, thick and glossy foliage. Young growth is coppery bronze. A very useful plant that is heat and sun tolerant with a bushy, upright habit. Height 150-180cm in 10 years. Best suited for a sunny, shrub border with humus-rich, acid soil or a large container filled with ericaceous compost. Avoid planting too deeply. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of leaf mould around the base of the plant each spring.
