Hornbeam hedge is a very popular variety of hedging shrub, suitable for both formal and country barriers. This hardy and resilient variety can tolerate damp, shady and exposed sites, making it an excellent choice for a ‘windbreak’ hedge.
A dense and vigorous grower, it will successfully keep its copper brown leaves in their dry state throughout winter, growing to a mature height of 3 metres which ensures year-round privacy for your garden as well as a reliable shelter for wildlife during the winter months. Come spring it will yield a densely packed covering of green leaves, producing delicate catkins later in the year.
