The Acer platanoides 'Drummondii' is a very popular tree; this is due to its unique variegated leaves which have a rich green colour with creamy margins. Bursts of yellow flowers appear in spring before the leaves. Drumondii is well suited as a specimen tree for a medium-large sized garden. Occasionally, branches can grow with plain green leaves; these should be pruned out. Other than that this tree does not require any heavy pruning. In 20 years this tree will grow to a height of 6m and a spread of 4m. Ideally suited to a full sun/ partial shade position; this Acer will thrive in any fertile, moist yet well-drained soil.
