Quercus Petraea - Sessile Oak [60-90cm]

Quercus petraea - Sessikle Oak or Irish Oak is a large deciduous tree forming a broad, rounded crown, with rather leathery, dark green, lobed leaves to 15cm long, turning orange-brown in autumn. Inconspicuous yellowish flowers in catkins with the young leaves.

This lovely tree is a favourite with wildlife, and like the English Oak plays host to an array of different invertebrates and animals.
