Helleborus are one of the most popular winter flowering bloom and are nicknamed the 'Christmas' or 'Lenten' Rose as flowers can often be seen flourishing on Christmas Day, lifting the gloomiest of spaces. Hellebore Sliver Lace is a distinctive perennial with silver-frosted foliage and sharply-toothed leaf edges similar to Holly. This is a majestic variety, growing up to 60cm (24”) tall and flowering freely in winter and early spring when few other plants dare to brave the cold! The apple-green, cup-shaped blooms are a treat for early-emerging insects in early spring, providing a valuable source of nectar. Hellebore ‘Silver Lace’ is a choice evergreen for brightening up a lightly shaded border or adding interest to woodland areas and will add colour to the border or containers in late winter to early spring, making it a fantastic choice for winter gardens! It will attract early pollinators as it has large, double, dark purple flowers. The flowers appear from February to April above the deep green leaves. They make attractive ground cover plants for areas of shade under deciduous trees and shrubs. This perennial dies back to below ground level each year in autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in spring.
